In Republic Polytechnic, there are 3 main foodcourts namely the South Canteen also known as KouFu located at W1. Lawn, the air conditioned canteen linked to W4 and W6 on level 3, and North Canteen also known as the E-canteen located at the W6.
Koufu (South foodcourt)
In the early morning, as you make your way to school with a heavy body, you would very much like to find ways to wake yourself up. A coffee in the Causeway Point’s Starbucks and Mccafe is usually expensive for normal students like you and me. So, the solution would be buying the $0.80 coffee in the South Food court - Koufu.
As expected of the popularity of the Koufu’s drink stall in the early morning, you be finding yourself lining up in long queue in waiting to buy a cup of coffee to warm up your day. The queue in the early morning is usually slow. If you’re in a rush to wake yourself up, an alternative would be to walk a little further up to the 1983-Nanyang café.
Up on the Nanyang café, the hot drinks-Coffee, Tea and Chocolate latte, is the best bargain across the three canteens in Republic Polytechnic. Their serving of the drinks is larger than the Lawn and South, plus the price of the drinks is reasonable and affordable to the students. I would recommend the Hot Chocolate Latte of 1983 to the students, especially during the rainy days.
During lunch, the queue for the stalls in the south is usually packed with people. So, it would be hard to decide which stall stands out from the competition. Finally, after many try-outs and arguments, we came out with a conclusion. The recommended stalls in the south would be Chicken rice and the 1983.
In an interview with the students during lunch at the South canteen, Naomi(Year 1, SOH student) said that, ” Um…. Food that I like about South would be the 1983’s nasi lemak. The taste of the nasi lemak brings me back to the days where my family and I used to visit my Granny during weekends. She will usually cook nasi lemak during our visit. Currently, due to all the school work, IG and outside work, I have less opportunity to visit her. Thanks to 1983, it gives me a sense of comfort while eating the nasi lemak.”
The Chicken rice in the South is rich in the taste of the chicken meat. While, the 1983, the Nasi Lemak is their best bet. With the choice many combination for the Nasi Lemak, it gives the students much more variety to choose from, while the chicken is rich with tenderness in the chicken rice stall.

Review of Koufu
Japanese Cruisine
Prata
Some delicious food worth mentioning are as shown above the japansese cuisine and the prata apart from the famous 1983. The taste of the japanese cuisine is comparable to what is sold in restaurants at a much cheaper price which was a definite must try! The Prata is tangy and the curry is neither too spicy nor too bland for people's tastebuds, it is one of the top few that taste great.
Review of Lawn
Chicken Rice
Ayam Penyet
Waffle
This foodcourt is well known for the waffles. Even though there is a stall in North canteen that sells waffles too, there are a significant number of students who prefer buying the waffles at Lawn. That is because there are many plenty different waffle fillings to choose from, compared to the one at North canteen. Besides the waffle stall, the Ayam Penyet stall also offers delicious dishes of smashed chicken, a dish originated in Indonesia. It is the best Ayam Penyet that is sold in RP as it is more exquisite and taste the best compared to the one sold in South canteen. One more thing that students like about this foodcourt is that it’s air-conditioned, unlike the other two foodcourts.
Review of E-canteen
Japanese
Western
Students’ most frequented stalls are Western, Japanese and Takoyaki. Students would not mind queuing up for 10-15 minutes to buy food from these stalls because of the value-for-money they get. Also, there are plenty of seating in the foodcourt so you can get seats easily. The dishes are delicious and you won’t regret coming here! The takoyakis are to die for! The Japanese & Western food are tasty, and the the generous servings would make you want to patronize this stall again! The most recommended dish from the Western stall would be Chicken Chop and Spaghetti(even better if you top the dish with scrambled eggs for an additional $1 only!) What’s popular at the Japanes stall would be the Fried Ebi with rice!
